* The white spaces in your first two rows are the cages where your monkeys are kept. Place your monkeys among these spaces however you wish.
Place four of your monkeys on the white spaces in your third row, and your ships in the black spaces in your opponent's second row (your seventh); your opponent's ships will be placed in the black spaces on your second row. There will be a fifth monkey; place this on any white space of your choice in your second row (your opponent's ship row on your side of the board). Each player's first row is known as the Bad Monkey Place (see below).
* The black spaces in your second row are where your opponent's ships are stored; your ships are in your opponent's second row. Place each player's ships in the appropriate spaces.
(The government is aware of the factionalism among the space monkeys, and has placed the monkeys as far away from their ships as possible.)
