IceDam is essentially IceSickle for 2 to 4 players. The main differences are an adjustment to scoring and some additional strategy, both enabled by the addition of color.
Setup
Set the chessboard so that one corner points more or less toward each player (or at least so each player has one corner closest to them). Each player places 1 queen from their stash on the corner closest to them. For three players, cover two rows of spaces (or fold your trusty bandana). For two players, halve the board.
Rules
Placement
As in IceSickle, players alternate placing one piece from their stash onto the board. Once all pieces are placed, the Jumping Phase begins.
Jumping Phase
Players take turns making a valid jump. Valid jumps are the same as in IceSickle. Jumps may be made with any piece on the board regardless of color. In other words, color is meaningless except when scoring.
Scoring
Count up the captured pips. Pips of your own color count double. The player with the most points wins the round.
- Optional: Record the score and play 1 round for each player.
More Variation
In a three player game of IceDam, instead of taking the sixteen spaces off the end, take them from the center or random squares on the board.
