Talk:Main Page/Picture for week 5
Add topicI have been trying on and off for weeks to fix this thing, does anyone have any ideas? I wonder if the file is in some slightly off-format kind of jpg. Can the originator perhaps re-upload it? If nothing can be done, it should be removed from the rotation because nothing is more off putting than coming new to the wiki and seeing a broken "cannot make thumbnail" message 20% of the time. - Broken thumbnails have been an unresolved technical issue here for years. MiSuBa's working on it, and hopefully we'll see a fix soon. - Cerulean 15:02, 3 April 2008 (EDT)
- Also, can you see any of these thumbnails okay? If not, then the problem is not image specific. - Cerulean 15:07, 3 April 2008 (EDT)
Argh. I thought I had it, but it turns out that it's not resizing the images, just displaying them in natural resolution. I think there's something about how the file is saved that, if we changed it, would allow them to be resized. But that's just a feeling because I don't want to believe that mediawiki is (entirely) at fault. Donsheldon 10:28, 4 April 2008 (EDT)
Here's what the internet at large is telling me: possible solution? and it's going to take MiSuBa to fix it (which shouldn't be a surprise). At least we can point at where he should go. Donsheldon 10:48, 4 April 2008 (EDT)
