Add topicIdeas for More Color Powers[edit source]
To date, no new powers have been developed for purple, cyan, orange, black, white, and clear. What suggestions do you have for more powers, and how could those powers be incorporated into the global stash?
- The ability to change the size or color of a star. Perhaps this could be tempered by requiring to sacrifice a piece, maybe the same size as the star in question. - Cerulean 18:22, 3 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- We could call it a Terraformer. Sacrificing a ship that is smaller than the star in question shrinks the star by one, sacrificing a larger ship grows the star. Perhaps if the sizes are the same that's when it can change the colour of the star? Sacrificing may not be necessary. It's hard to tell. --Aaron 05:27, 4 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- A teleport ability, or one that lets you swap the locations of two of your ships. maybe restricted by ship size. - Cerulean 18:22, 3 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- This ability should probably be activated by sacrifice as well. Perhaps the total pip-value of ships swapped teleported cannot exceed the size of the ship sacrificed (or size+1). --Aaron 05:27, 4 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- The ability to use colors that your opponents have in your system. - Cerulean 18:22, 3 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- A warp ability, that allows you to warp a single ship to any non-homeworld system. To limit the power of this somewhat, you would not be able to discover a new system using it. To tie it to size, you would warp one ship per pip if you sacrificed a ship. In other words, sacrificing a large would let you warp 3 or fewer ships. Basically, it's like a yellow but you can move between stars of the same size. -- Jeremiah 01:35, 5 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- I like the idea of a dampener. Ships in a system with a dampener can't be sacrificed unless they are larger than the dampener. Not sure how they'd balance, though. -JEEP 08:49, 11 Nov 2005 (GMT)
- 'Wild' pieces that have no color of their own, but count as any color only for purposes of triggering catastrophes. Maybe a 'wild' piece would count once for each pip, so a large piece would count as three pieces of any color. On second thought, this could lead to some very vicious early kills. - Cerulean 19:32, 28 Feb 2006 (GMT)
- Spy (or double agent) pieces that give you access to the ability to use powers of opponent ships in a system in addition to the powers of your own ships. - BenHorner 12:41, 16 May 2010 (CST)
- The power to merge two star systems into a binary star system (possibly causing catastrophes in the process... -BenHorner 18:22, 16 May 2010 (CST)
- Black made me think of black holes and gravity, so I have been thinking that Black stars and black ships could grant the ability to move an opponent's ship into your ship's system, assuming that move would be a legal move (i.e., the stars are different sizes). Sacrificing a black would let you move an opponent's ship into any system you already occupy. Game balance probably requires a restriction that you can only pull opponent ships of a size smaller than your ship. -Jabberwocky 12:52, 18 Oct 2010 (CST)
Different ways to win?[edit source]
I'm thinking of a different way to win. Sure, Sinister sounds great, but what about Eliminator? You can describe it with three words: LAST IN WINS. If you are eliminated, you are out, and if you are the last person not out, you win!
Combining Colors?[edit source]
What if you used a little bit more pieces so you could combine two (black ships, anyone?) and create a ship that had a related but unique power? So we can have new color powers without adding all the piece colors!
Create + Trade = Super-size Create: Create a ship of "size 4" by stacking a large ship with a small - it acts like a ship that is bigger than anything else. You could even combine Black ships to create dark powers like Black Hole (combine + move)!
Rule additions?[edit source]
Once, I played with 3 people. We added a new rule: if you lose your homeworld, and you still have ships, you are still in. You can't use red ships, but can cause catastrophes. You can get your homeworld back if you get 3 large ships of any color.
Thoughts?
