3 or 4 player game[edit | edit source]
Setup[edit | edit source]
Each player gets two trees of his color and sets them up along one side of the board. The corner spaces are not part of the playing area. Each player then draws a card an looks at it. Do NOT reveal your card to the other players.
Movement[edit | edit source]
Each piece may move up to the number of spaces that the piece as pips in a straight line in any direction.
Capture[edit | edit source]
Capture is accomplished by having a piece on either side of the piece to be captured. The pip total of the capturing pieces must be HIGHER than the piece being captured. The game ends when any player has only one piece left.
Scoring[edit | edit source]
Play is for a number of rounds equivalent to the number of players. The player with the most points after all rounds wins. Here, however is where it gets a bit tricky.
In a round each player gets one point for every pip captured and one point fo each piece left on the board (regardless of the number of pips). Each player also receives half the points , rounded down, of the player whose color corresponds to the card they drew at the beginning of the round. This is the leech effect.
A scoring example:
Player |
Color Played |
Card Color |
Pips Captured |
Points Leeched |
Total |
Ben |
Red |
Red |
9 |
4 |
13 |
Hammer |
Cyan |
Blue |
9 |
3 |
12 |
Kermit |
Blue |
Cyan |
7 |
4 |
11 |
As you can see, Ben and Hammer captured the same number of pips but Ben wins by virtue of Leeching off of himself rather another player with a lower capture number.
2 Player Rules[edit | edit source]
In the two player game each player plays two colors and leeches one. Scoring for two players is of the 2 plus 1/2 variety. Full pips and pieces for both colors played plus half rounded down for the color leeched.
Variants[edit | edit source]
Variants (primarily scoring) coming soon.
